Size it before you buy it!

The Pet Necessity Dog Coat Size Guide.

Buying a coat for your trusted companion is an awesome idea. We have in stock a variety of coats to suit warm, cold, wet and dry weather from some of the leading UK brands.

Whether your pooch is out for a stroll, running wild ‘n’ free in the hills or cruising down the street practicing their skateboarding skills (C’mon, you must have seen the video, if not then click here), you need to make sure the jacket you buy is not only super stylish, but super comfortable. The only way to do this is to make sure you measure up your doggo and buy the right size.

you can find our sizing guide on most pages throughout our website and the sizes apply to all brands.

To ensure you pup gets a tailor made fit measure from the base of their neck to the base of their tail. Use that measurement to choose the right size. The table here indicates which sizes typically fit which breeds, but obviously we advise using your own measurements to make sure the coat is as comfortable as possible.

Roughly speaking, small breeds from chihuahuas to Jack Russell fit within the 20cm-30cm range. medium breeds from French Bulldog to Vizla are within the range 30-45cm, and breeds above that size (Labrador to Great Dane) are over 45cm.

Our size chart is based on the length of your dog from the base of the neck to the top of the tail. However for broader chested dogs such as a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, you may consider going for a size up to allow extra room for movement.
